Hello!

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to visit the website and blog of Pet Abuse UK

Animals MatterThe aim of this site and blog, which are complemented by profiles on Facebook and Twitter, is to share news and information on the abuse of companion animals in the United Kingdom. Sadly, statistics released by welfare charities show that this is on the increase, aggravated by the recession and a general decline in moral standards (notably the emergence of the so-called “throwaway society”). Given the nature of the subject matter, most of the stories and accompanying images we publish are likely to cause distress. This is the reality of animal cruelty and we feel that there is no point in concealing the truth.

Animal cruelty is a HUGE subject

cat and rabbitOur focus is on the abuse of pets – dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and other small furries, reptiles and fish.  This doesn’t mean that we consider other types of animal cruelty such as factory farming, wildlife crime, vivisection and slaughterhouse practices to be any less abhorrent. We are against ALL animal abuse whatever form it takes and would urge you to visit some of the websites listed on our Links page (coming soon) to learn more about these other important issues.

No excuse for animal abuse

gavelAnimal abuse is a heinous crime and those people who commit it are contemptible and not worthy of any kind of sympathy.  Lawyers representing even the most extreme abusers in court will frequently give a variety of “mitigating factors” to explain their client’s behaviour: drug and alcohol abuse, depression and other mental illness, poverty and so on. This, quite frankly, is bullshit; empty words which even the lawyer himself probably doesn’t truly believe.  When it comes to animal abuse, there are no excuses.  None whatsoever.

Plus there is a well-established correlation between animal cruelty and other types of violent crime, particularly domestic violence. In other words, the abuse of animals should not be regarded as a trivial matter.

Why we name and shame abusers

We think it important that the names and faces of convicted abusers remain in the public eye long after details of them and their crimes have been consigned to newspaper archives.  The information which we publish here, all of which is sourced from online newspapers, may also be useful to breeders and rescue organisations.

Vigilantism is illegalDexter

We strongly discourage readers from seeking out animal abusers and attacking them either verbally or physically.   That will only get you into trouble and abusers are just not worth it.

Reporting cruelty

  1. THE LAW HAS TO BE CHANGED, AND STIFFER SENTENCES GIVEN, SEVERE JAIL TIME, INSTEAD OF JUST FINES AND BASICALLY A SLAP ON THE WRIST, THESE ANIMAL ABUSERS, AND ANIMAL MURDERERS ARE CAUSING AGONISING PAIN, CRUELTY AND DEATH ON ANIMALS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CARING FOR, THEY .. CANNOT.. BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS ANY LONGER, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE, AND WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT ALLOW IT ANYMORE.. WE ARE THE VOICE FOR THE INNOCENT ANIMALS WHO CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. THERE HAS TO BE AN ANIMAL ABUSE REGISTER SET UP, ALL ABUSERS MUST BE REGISTERED ON IT, AND A LIFETIME BAN SO THEY WILL… NEVER… HAVE ANOTHER ANIMAL FOR AS LONG AS THEY LIVE, IF THEY ARE FOUND TO HAVE ONE.. THEY MUST BE JAILED. STOP ANIMAL ABUSE NOW. WE ARE WATCHING.
